The 2023 Year in Review for Simply Sunni

So, 2023 is over, and 2024 is here! That means it’s time for our ‘year in review,’ reflecting on where we started in January and how far we’ve come. Through dedication, expanding our creativity, and working better than ever as an aspiring team, Simply Sunni has made much progress in 2023, and we have never been prouder! Wahoo!!

We all know life is more than the small business we are passionately growing. Oh, the Simply Sunni Team knows it all too well! 

Through planning a DIY wedding, preparing for a grandbaby on the way, getting through college classes, and packing for a BIG move, our team has put even more into the company than in previous years. I can say confidently that 2023 was the year of progress– the year of growth– the year of cultivating our passion as a small business and looking forward to what is to come.

For me, personally, 2023 has been a record year of reflection, career growth, and self-confidence. Through the hectic yet wonderful family milestones, I’ve had the joy of discovering more about where I want Simply Sunni to be in five, even ten years. I am proud of my team’s progress and the dedication we have all found in 2023 despite life’s ups and downs. 

There’s a wedding in February, a precious baby girl on the way, and a first-time home purchase on the horizon– I couldn’t be more thrilled for 2024!

What About the Rest of the Simply Sunni Team?

To get Simply Sunni to where it is today takes more than one person. My team has made strides in their personal and work lives while working together to grow the company.

Our brilliant Content Writer, Hannah, is working towards buying their first house, raising a rambunctious six-year-old son with more hobbies than one Mama can keep up with, and bettering her skills in copywriting while finding her rhythm in a daily routine. Her role with Simply Sunni allows her to use her creative side while having the flexibility to give all the time she can to her precious son, hard-working husband, and their new German Shorthair pup, Rugger, with all the energy in the world!

Simply Sunni’s talented Social Media Content Creator and Manager, Bella, has also had quite the year! Since joining in 2023, Bella has continued to navigate her college classes while filling the limited extra time with managing the social media account. By the end of 2024, her college career will nearly be over. However, she has found an unexpected passion for what she does for Simply Sunni. She aims to continue her work for as long as possible. This creative job that challenges her daily has also allowed her to learn more about herself and explore new hobbies, like free diving, while caring for her four-legged best friend, Westley, an adorable Peekapoo puppy.

Shelby, the team’s illustrator and content writer, loves what she does! Now, with Simply Sunni for a couple of years, she boasts about all the fascinating things she learns daily as a copywriter and shares how the flexibility and freedom of her job allow her to prioritize her artistic side when necessary. She credits Simply Sunni for her children’s illustration opportunities in 2023, setting her on a new path for 2024. Not to mention, Shelby and her fiance, Josh, are looking towards a massive life transformation on February 3, 2024– Their Wedding! She couldn’t be a happier bride.

Our committed team takes much pride in what we have done for our valued clients in 2023. But, looking back on the year in review, we couldn’t have done it without first focusing on our small business, Simply Sunni. After all, how could we help others without investing time in growing our company first?

Starting in the spring of this year, we found our rhythm. We decided to produce consistent blogs to help small businesses and spread the word about the ins and outs of social media. And, because we like to relate to and inspire those around us, we included a sprinkle of self-reflection and personal growth topics.   • Sprucing up our social media feed through an Instagram and Facebook re-focus and re-design and the introduction of the Simply Sunni Pinterest page.

Now, how have we helped our clients? It’s the sole purpose of Simply Sunni to help small businesses reach their full potential without having to learn the hard way by doing it all themselves.

Many beginners in the small business world believe that if they are running their own company, they must do everything themselves– from social media content to blogs to website creation. Our team loves to learn new skills and take on the challenge of perfecting crafts. Beyond the typical content creation, social media management, and website building, we’ve also been getting into self-publishing and ghostwriting. It’s an exciting addition to our list of skills, and we are thrilled to continue this work after our recent successes, including:

Writing His Word on Your Children’s Hearts: A Fast Fun Family Devotional to Memorize Scripture, By Blythe Adreon and Marty Newport (Your Abundant Joy)- The Simply Sunni team enjoyed working with two lovely authors with a heart for children and spreading the Word of God. Our team illustrator had the honor of digitally recreating children’s drawings representing weekly scriptures! The rest of the team worked hard to format and design the book according to the desires and dreams of the authors, as well as market the book’s release.

The Art Of People Watching: Exercise Your Mind and Heart Through Observation, By Sunni Baerwalde- I had so much fun returning to my roots to create a self-published short story available on Kindle. It’s a brief piece that takes you into my mind as I sit on a park bench observing the people passing by, wondering what could possibly be happening in their lives, and taking inspiration from my imaginative scenarios. Stay tuned for the expanded version coming soon!

What’s Next for 2024?

Looking back on 2023, Simply Sunni has come such a long way, and we anticipate 2024 will be an exciting year for the team! We have so many projects in the works. The past year of progress and growth has motivated us all to make Simply Sunni bigger than ever before as we continue to find our niche in this industry. 

We plan to branch out and try new things, like writing, illustrating, publishing children’s books inspired by our families and producing a food blog for gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, and other allergy-safe awareness!

We’d like to thank our supporters and clients who have made all of this possible and helped us sustain and succeed in the job of our dreams!
