7 Seasonal Freebies Every Blogger Needs

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about creating helpful, down-to-earth tools that make blogging feel a little less stressful and a lot more fun. Over the years, I’ve written for dozens of small businesses, coached beginner bloggers, and tested just about every strategy out there to see what really works. (Spoiler: consistency, creativity, and good SEO always win.)

That’s why I love sharing freebies that make your life easier, especially the seasonal ones. As someone who’s spent years developing blogging systems for clients and creators, I know how much a simple checklist or planner can help you stay on track when your ideas (and energy!) start to scatter. These are the same types of tools I use to plan my own content for Simply Sunni, and they’re designed to keep you organized and inspired through every season.

This blog post is a little different from my usual style because it’s part storytelling, part experiment, and part freebie celebration.

I’m diving back into Google Web Stories (after a long break) and testing how they perform in 2025 and into 2026, while giving you the exact freebies featured in my story to grab for yourself.

Here’s what you can expect in this post:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at my return to creating Web Stories
  • The latest insight on what Google and WordPress are saying about them in 2025
  • Direct links to 7 seasonal freebies that’ll help you plan and post all year long
  • Encouragement, honesty, and a few lessons I’ve learned along the way

So, settle in and let’s talk about how these resources (and a little sunshine) can help you make blogging easier, more joyful, and more consistent, one season at a time.

Why I’m Revisiting Web Stories in 2025

ā€œWhy now?ā€ Well, friend, I’ve always believed in circling back to the tools that once worked, especially when what works in digital spaces is constantly changing. I first learned to create Web Stories years ago while working with several top influencers, including Allison Lancaster, who still teaches creators how to use them effectively today (more on her later). Back then, Web Stories were brand new and wildly exciting. I loved crafting short, visual narratives that helped blogs stand out in Google Discover.

But over time, their visibility faded, and like many bloggers, I stopped using them. Fast-forward to 2025, and Google has been quietly refining its approach to handling Web Stories, rewarding high-quality, complete narratives over quick teasers. WordPress has also kept the official Web Stories plugin up to date, making it easier than ever to create and publish them right from your dashboard.

So here I am, jumping back in! I’m calling this my ā€œtest runā€ — a chance to re-learn, experiment, and see what kind of magic these stories still hold. Whether they bring in traffic, engagement, or just a spark of creativity, I’m all in. And because I can’t resist sharing, I’ve paired this experiment with seven seasonal freebies that’ll help you plan, post, and sprinkle your own blog with sunshine all year long.

What the Experts and WordPress Are Saying in 2025

Now, there’s been a lot of talk about whether Web Stories still work, and honestly, the answer depends on who you ask. Google has made it clear that they still support Web Stories as part of search and Discover, they just expect a lot more from creators now. Stories need to stand on their own, not just act as teasers to bigger posts. Each one should tell a complete story, offer real value, and follow best practices like proper metadata, a self-canonical URL, and a solid sitemap connection.

On the WordPress side, the official Web Stories plugin by Google is still being maintained and used by thousands of bloggers, indicating that the format remains viable. The blogging community hasn’t given up on them — many are just learning how to use them smarter. That said, Discover traffic has become a little unpredictable. Some creators report that their stories are taking off, while others say their impressions have dropped since early 2025. So, while Web Stories aren’t the guaranteed traffic boost they once were, they’re still a creative way to share quick, visual stories that keep readers engaged. Personally, I think they’re worth experimenting with again — especially now that Google appears to be refining its approach to rewarding high-quality, mobile-first storytelling.

So, now you know where I’m starting: combining my past experience, your need for useful tools, and real, up-to-date advice. Let’s dive into those freebies!

Each one stands alone, meaning you don’t need a fancy system or course to use them. You can print them, customize them, or plug them right into your existing content plan.

What I love most is how they bring rhythm back into your blogging routine. That’s really what these freebies are about: helping you stay organized, creative, and confident as you grow your blog through the seasons. And, if you ever feel behind or unsure where to start, grab one of these and just take the next small step. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the rhythm returns to your workflow.

How I’m Evaluating This Test Run

Here’s how I’ll measure whether this Web Story is working in 2025:

  • Impressions & clicks — Did Google Discover or search show it?
  • Completion rate — Did people stay through all slides, or drop off early?
  • Freebie downloads — Which freebie got the most traction?
  • Landing page behavior — Once someone clicks ā€œGet Freebie,ā€ do they stay, bounce, or dig deeper?

I’ll keep refining these as I go. And yes, I hope to share those learnings with you soon so we can use what works together.
