Think about all the brand names you have wandering around in your head. I bet they are catchy, fun, and memorable, or they probably wouldn’t be taking up valuable space in your mind, right?
Real-Life Example: The Power of a Name
Let me share a story about a friend of mine who started a business around luxury picnics. Initially, she chose the name “Love and Luxury.” It was a good start but didn’t capture the full scope of her offerings. After some brainstorming, we landed on “Loving Luxury Picnics.”
This name captured the essence of her brand by reflecting the luxury aspect and the variety of events she catered to. It also helped with branding, guiding the design of her logo, color scheme, and overall brand identity.
Even without knowing my friend or her company, you can picture the aesthetic and imagine the goals, can’t you? That’s what makes it a great name!

Now, let’s really get into it. How in the world do you come to such an effective and memorable blog name?
Well, it takes a little bit of work, but I believe you can do it. Just follow these simple steps:
1 | Brainstorming
Most creative projects start with brainstorming, from sculpting a commissioned art piece to planning a classic wedding ceremony. Here are a few tips to help you effectively brainstorm your catchy blog name:
- Get Creative: Write down words and phrases related to your blog’s theme.
- Mix and Match: Combine different words to see what resonates.
- AI Assistance: Use tools like ChatGPT to generate ideas. For example, if you’re a music curriculum, you might enter:
“I need a creative and catchy name for my blog about music curriculum.”
2 | Check Availability
This next step is super important! You don’t want to skip checking the availability of the name and later be challenged by another company with rights to the name or other legal issues. Use sites like GoDaddy and more to secure the domain.
What happens if the name is taken?
No worries! It just wasn’t meant to be. Go back to the drawing board and try some other fun combinations until you find something original.
3 | Make It Memorable
You want your blog name to stand out and stick in people’s minds. Even if you come up with a lovely and suitable name, it must be catchy and engaging for it to really work and help boost your brand.
What makes a name memorable?
You’ll want to aim for a name that’s easy to remember and spell. Also, ensure it stands out and sticks in readers’ minds. It helps to walk away from the drawing board for a few hours or a day or so and think about the name. If it’s something you can’t get out of your head, you’re on the right path!

Here’s what I’d like for you to do:
First, Brainstorm Boldly: Jot down all the words and phrases describing your blog’s focus, personality, and what you want to convey. Think outside the box and let your imagination run wild. If you prefer a hands-on approach, write different words on Post-Its and stick them on a wall. Play around with combinations until you find a name that clicks.
Next, Leverage AI Tools: Try ChatGPT. Input details about your blog and ask for name suggestions. For example: “I’m starting a blog about [your topic]. I need a creative and catchy name. Can you help me brainstorm?”
Then, Check Name Availability: Look up your chosen name in your state’s fictitious name registry to ensure it’s not already used. Then, visit a domain registration site like GoDaddy and check if your desired domain name is available. Opt for a .com domain if possible.
Finally, Secure Your Name: Once you’ve chosen a name, make sure to register it through your local or state government and secure your domain. This prevents anyone else from claiming your perfect name.
