Hey friends, can you believe it? Another year is here, and I’m so ready to head right into 2025 with a fresh perspective – in other words, New Year, New Focus! But let’s be real for a second: I’m not about setting a mountain of New Year resolutions that make me feel overwhelmed by February. Nope. This upcoming year it’s all about clarity and purpose. And my guiding word for 2025? Intentional.
Let’s rewind for a second. Last year, my word was Driven. I pushed hard—I tackled projects, chased opportunities, and kept my wheels spinning—and my team was along for the ride! They were amazing, in fact. Our team’s cohesiveness and my personal growth were pivotal in the success of 2024.
But you know what? This year, I’m switching gears, and I think it’s a great idea! Now, here is the main reason for the need for new habits in the start of a new year. My creative (and honestly, sometimes scattered) brain needs structure, value, and a little breathing room (taking small steps). So, my mission is to be Intentional with every task, every goal, and every moment. Not perfect—just purposeful.
Why Intentionality is a Game-Changer
In all honesty, I learned a lot in 2024. It was a huge year of growth for me and my company. That said, there are a few really great things 2024 taught me: having goals isn’t enough. To truly make 2025 the best year yet, I’m focusing on three intentional things:
- Creating work that genuinely matters and is cohesive.
- Making sure every task has value for my readers.
- Cutting out the noise and focusing on direction.
This isn’t just a New Year resolution; it’s an intentional mindset shift.
So, how does this look in practice? Let me break it down for you and show you a little of my action plan.
Being Intentional with My Daily Tasks
Let’s talk about the content production schedule I have worked on for the past year. It’s my roadmap for tackling big goals step by step – or, I should say, day to day. Here’s the plan as I have it so far. But if you know me, this plan could change at any time. What is good is that I am starting the new year with a direction and a new focus.
- Monday:
- Brainstorm and outline blog ideas.
- Draft the blog post with YOU in mind—my amazing audience.
- Edit and polish it so every word counts.
- Tuesday:
- Script YouTube videos that connect to the blog.
- Record the video with intention and focus.
- Start editing the footage to make it pop.
- Wednesday:
- Create a fun, engaging reel that complements the week’s content.
- Plan and schedule social media posts that are clear and meaningful.
- Thursday:
- Design Pinterest pins that tie it all together.
- Schedule and publish those pins to keep everything aligned.
And Friday is my day to catch up on anything that took a bit longer!
See how everything flows together? It’s not just about getting stuff done—it’s about making sure it all works toward the bigger picture.
Let’s Talk SMART Goals
Goals without a plan? Forget it. No more running with my creative ideas and getting behind in what I was scheduled to do! This year, I’m sticking with SMART goals because they keep me grounded:
- Specific: I want to grow my YouTube channel by 20%.
- Measurable: That means posting one video, one reel, and five social updates weekly.
- Achievable: I’ll stick to my 4-day production schedule.
- Relevant: Everything I do will help bloggers and small businesses grow.
- Time-Bound: I’ll reach this milestone by the end of Q2.
Ambitious goals, right? Now, before you go thinking, “Sunni is really intelligent to have come up with SMART goals,” let me assure you, I am not. A man by the name of George Doran came up with the concept in 1981. You can read more about that by clicking this link.
My Small Shifts for Big Wins
New Year, New Focus = Small Shifts, Big Wins!
No doubt, there are so many adjustments we can make to our lives to improve the overall quality.
My hubby cut out cheese and fatty meats and took control of his cholesterol numbers.
I gave up morning news shows to have more time to be productive in 2024.
But, sometimes, it’s the tiniest changes that make the biggest difference.
Here are a few I’m embracing for 2025:
- Carving out 30 minutes a day to plan and reflect.
- Keep all posts and platforms on plan.
- Decluttering my workspace to clear my mind.
- Saying “no” to distractions and “yes” to things that matter.
- Changing my daily planner to be more on task.
Keeping My Creative Brain on Track
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know my creative brain loves to dream big. I get so excited about giving my followers value that sometimes I go overboard with ideas—printables, free courses, extra resources, you name it! This year, I’m reining it in a bit. New Year, New Focus, right? If a project isn’t baked into my plan, it’ll have to wait for another time. To help me stay on track, I’ve set aside Fridays for extra projects and catching up on anything unfinished. I think this balance will be really good for me, and it will ensure I’m focused on what matters most.
Making Fresh Start Energy Happen
You don’t need a long list of resolutions to make this year amazing. Whether it’s improving your mental health, sticking to a to-do list, or starting a new habit, it’s all about moving forward with intention.
Here’s how you can start:
- Take a moment to reflect on last year: What worked? What didn’t?
- Set one big goal and break it into smaller, doable steps.
- Think about small changes that could make a huge difference in your daily life.
New Year, New Focus – Let’s Do This!
2025 isn’t about being busy; it’s about being purposeful. For me, that means making sure every task, every goal, and every resolution has meaning and stays on task. By fully embracing intentionality, I’m not just aiming for success—I’m building a year filled with direction, value, and all the good things.
So, friend, what’s your word for 2025? I’d love to hear what you are thinking.
Let’s make this the year of purpose and possibility. Together, we’ve got this!
